Reversible Cardiomyopathy Induced by Adrenal Insufficiency: A Case Report

Simplified Abstract Sample Work

Adrenal insufficiency is a rare endocrine disorder that can lead to serious systemic and cardiovascular complications. Although it commonly presents with nonspecific symptoms such as hypotension, hypoglycaemia, and fatigue, severe cases may progress to life-threatening conditions requiring intensive care management. Cardiac involvement is uncommon but can include reversible cardiomyopathy, which is often under-recognised. Early diagnosis and prompt hormone replacement therapy are crucial, as cardiac dysfunction in adrenal insufficiency is potentially reversible. We report a case of a 56-year-old woman with central adrenal insufficiency and panhypopituitarism presenting with acute hemodynamic instability and reversible cardiomyopathy, which improved significantly after corticosteroid therapy.
