Aim and Scope

BMC Digital Health is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on all aspects of the development and implementation of digital technology in both medicine and public health, such as mobile health applications, virtual healthcare and wearable technology, as well as the role of social media and other communications technology in digital health.

BMC Digital Health welcomes manuscripts in the following broad areas of research:

Artificial intelligence and personalized medicine – all aspects of the use of artificial intelligence to aid with the modelling, predicting and diagnosis of health conditions as well as delivering personalized treatments/medicine.

• Digital therapeutics – research on all aspects of the development and implementation of software driven evidence-based therapies to prevent, manage or treat medical conditions.
• Medical devices and technologies – research on the development of medical devices and technologies to aid with the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions.
• Mhealth and wearable technology – all aspects of the development and implementation of Mhealth and wearable technology in digital healthcare.
• Social media and digital health – research exploring the role of social media in digital health.
• Telemedicine – research on all aspects of telemedicine, including the development and implementation of new technologies to deliver healthcare services at a distance.
• Virtual healthcare – research on the development and implementation of virtual reality in healthcare.

As a BMC Series journal, BMC Digital Health does not make editorial decisions based on the perceived interest or potential impact of a study. Manuscripts are considered for publication if they are scientifically valid. For research articles, this includes having a clearly defined and sound research question, appropriate methodology and analysis, and adherence to community-agreed standards relevant to the field.
