Mondor’s disease of the breast in a patient living with sickle cell disease: a case report

Simplified Abstract Sample Work

Mondor’s disease of the breast is a rare, benign condition caused by superficial thrombophlebitis of the breast veins, often presenting as breast pain and a palpable cord-like structure. Although self-limiting, it can mimic more serious breast conditions, making accurate diagnosis essential. Ultrasonography is the preferred imaging technique for confirming the diagnosis. This case report, published as an original report article, highlights the clinical presentation, imaging findings, diagnosis, and management of a 42-year-old Ghanaian woman with sickle cell disease (HbSS) diagnosed with Mondor’s disease. It also supports case reports writing by providing valuable clinical insights and serves as patient education content, helping patients and healthcare professionals better understand this rare condition, its symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.
