PLOS entered a strategic partnership with the Society of China University Journals (SCUJ), a leading academic organization in China, for a period of three years. The collaboration, focusing on open access, open science, and promoting scientific integrity, aims at transforming the academic publishing arena in China and also globally.
Strategic Focus on Open Access and Open Science
This partnership will propel initiatives to open up access to scholarly research, which PLOS sees as part of its mission to make scientific literature freely accessible to all. PLOS and SCUJ will together improve scientific journal quality and impact, thereby supporting the move to open access publishing in China.
The emphasis will be on developing the ecosystem that enables open science—whereby the data, publications, and methodologies are all openly shared in the spirit of transparency, reproducibility, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Commitment to Scientific Integrity
A principal tenet of this partnership indeed is scientific integrity. The partners will jointly pursue the establishment of and adherence to rigorous standards in research publication to combat the scourges of research misconduct, uphold ethical conduct, and promote accountability in scientific publishing.
