Manuscript Publishers Open to Direct Submissions This Month
Starting from April 1, 2023, the Chemical Engineering Journal published by Elsevier and hosted on Science Direct, will ask authors to submit a formal proposal prior to submitting review articles. This policy is aimed at improving the relevance and quality of review content published in the journal.
Why the Change?
In view of the increasing number of review paper submissions to the journal, the editors have implemented a proposal phase. This helps them manage the influx of submissions and to ensure that only those intended for high-value articles are sent forward for peer review. This will allow the editorial team to make a pre-assessment of the originality, relevance, and scientific contribution of proposals to review paper before the submission of the full manuscript.
What to Include in the Proposal
The sorted draft proposal should also feature a good working title and structured outline of the intended review,
Clearly stating the novelty and importance of the topic, in addition to providing details of authors’ qualifications and expertise
Authors will be able to submit complete manuscripts once they have secured editorial approval.
Scope of the News Policy
This guideline applies solely to review articles. Original research submissions, technical notes, or communications will adhere to the current submissions of the journal without any requirement of prior consent.
Proposals are to be submitted online for access to an online submission system specifically designed by the journal in ScienceDirect. All details and templates are available on the journal’s official webpage. Authors are advised to go through these guidelines carefully to avoid any delay.
Conclusion
This policy affirms the commitment to uphold tough academic rigors while easing the scholarly work of the journal. Hence, authors should be encouraged to plan and prepare their submission to fit all the stated requirements.
