Call for Papers: Microcirculation Under Inflammation

Introduction

Inflammation will impair microcirculatory function and plays a vital role in cardiovascular, metabolic, and autoimmune conditions. This special issue will cover the impact of inflammation in microvascular network, endothelium, tissue perfusion and explore the mechanism between microcirculation and systemic inflammatory response. It is informed to submit original paper on this special issue before 31st December 2024 via EM submission portal.

Scope

Science Direct warmly welcomes original research and review articles related to mechanism, diagnosis, and therapy related to microcirculatory dysfunction under inflammatory conditions. This issue discusses how to bridge existing knowledge gaps relating to the role of microcirculation in disease processes and patient outcomes. Further, this special issue helps the research community to understand the relationship between inflammation and microcirculation, aiding in the discovery of new treatment strategies based on tissue engineering and pathophysiology.

Know more about this issue

Microcirculation is a network of capillaries, where processes such as tissue-vascular gas exchange, nutrient uptake, and waste elimination will occur. Although inflammation is an evolutionary response aimed at supporting healing following injury or infection, exaggerated pathological inflammation is deleterious. excessive inflammation may increase vascular permeability, damage the vascular endothelium, and lead to thrombi formation and disruption of organ function. Therefore, balancing this inflammation is required to prevent severe complications.

Key Themes

  • Endothelial cell dysfunction and inflammation
  • Immune cells’ role in microvascular inflammation
  • Imaging techniques for microcirculatory assessment
  • Therapeutic drugs controlling microcirculatory inflammation
  • Inflammatory biomarkers in microvascular diseases
