Computed Tomography for Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction
We are soliciting submissions for a future special issue on the evolving role of CT in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease. As it has advanced to include more non-invasive imaging techniques, CT allows for key insight into complex anatomy to improve diagnosis and plan therapy in CHD patients. The researchers are requested to submit their completed original manuscript work before 31st December 2024.
Scope of this Issue
This special issue focuses on innovative applications, challenges, and future directions of CT in CHD. It includes technical advances, comparative diagnostic accuracy, pediatric versus adult applications, radiation considerations, and emerging 3D or 4D imaging approaches.
More Information on this issue
There is an increasing application of cardiac CT in the assessment of CHD; its clinical application antedates the existing ancillary literature. Within the narrow, specialized area of cardiac imaging, this modality requires a sophisticated knowledge of not only the technology of CT but also the nuances of CHD to tailor each examination such that it answers multiple clinical questions. This Special Issue will focus on the role of cardiovascular CT in the management of all age groups with CHD, emphasizing innovative approaches and clinical applications. This Special Issue encourages contributions from experts in both pediatric and adult cardiology and radiology in helping to fill the growing body of knowledge and practice in this critical area.
Key Themes
- CT imaging innovations in CHD
- Diagnostic accuracy and inter-modality comparison
- Pediatric applications and radiation dose reduction
- 3D/4D visualization and surgical planning
- CT’s role in post-operative and longitudinal assessment
